Community Conversations

Help us strengthen volunteerism and engagement in Oregon!

July 13 - August 13, 2015 at a location near you!

Oregon Volunteers is hosting community conversations across the state to get your input for our new Oregon State Service Plan and prepare a report for the Oregon Legislature on how to best strengthen volunteerism and engagement.

Who?

Local and state government, nonprofit, business, and faith-based organization leadership and volunteers; interested community residents; and national service participants should join us to have a conversation with representatives of the Oregon Volunteers Commission for Voluntary Action and Service.

What?

17 discussions will be happening across the state about volunteering and engagement as community building strategies.

Where?

Baker City, Bend, Burns, Coos Bay, Eugene, Gresham, Hermiston, Hillsboro, McMinnville, Medford, Newport, Ontario, Portland, Roseburg, Salem, The Dalles

Why?

  • To hear from Oregon community members about what is working well and what issues need to be addressed in order to strengthen local volunteer engagement capacity
  • To identify priority community needs that could be reduced or eliminated through service and engagement
  • To understand the role that local residents would like to see government play in supporting volunteerism and engagement in their communities

How?

Results of the conversations will be used to create the 2016-2018 Oregon State Service Plan, as well as to prepare a report for the Oregon Legislature on how best to strengthen volunteerism and engagement across the state.
