For over 20 years, USA WEEKEND and the HandsOn Network have joined together to sponsor Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of community-based service. This day is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Millions of Americans unite with a common mission to improve the lives of others on Make A Difference Day.
Make A Difference-Oregon!
Make a Difference-Oregon! is a collaboration between Volunteer Connect, HandsOn Greater Portland, HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley and HandsOn Linn-Benton to offer Oregonians an opportunity to serve together across the state on Make A Difference Day.
HandsOn Greater Portland has organized many great projects to make it easy for you to get involved and make a difference - including Bikes for Kids, the Book Brigade, and sprucing up Laurelhust park. Visit their website or call 503-200-3355 to sign up.
HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley has organized multiple projects in the community and in the classroom for over 500 AVID students from nine schools to participate. You are also invited to participate in an interactive disaster drill, preparing our community to respond when emergency hits. HandsOn Linn-Benton, RSVP and Community Services Consortium are hosting a community coat drive culminating on Make A Difference Day. The coats will benefit homeless and low income persons in the two counties served. Visit their website or call 541-812-0849 for more information on how to volunteer or donate.
Volunteer Connect is partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon-Redmond to engage volunteers in landscaping projects, painting, and project clean-up. To get involved, visit their website or call 541-385-8977.
