Secretary of State Kate Brown to present Governor's Volunteer Awards

Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown will present the 2014 Governor’s Volunteer Awards!

Only a few days remain to register for the Governor’s Volunteer Awards Luncheon, so sign up now. The deadline to register is Thursday, April 17.

At the annual awards luncheon, volunteers from across the state will be recognized for their efforts to strengthen their communities. It will be held 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the Salem Conference Center.

From 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. the day of the luncheon, the Oregon Commission for Voluntary Action and Service and members of its Committee on Volunteerism will hold a hearing to gather public input on volunteerism throughout Oregon. That hearing will also be held at the Salem Conference Center. We encourage people to come speak at the hearing. Anybody may attend and speak at the hearing without attending the luncheon. At this year’s luncheon, we’ll hand out eight state-level awards and 24 regional awards to people and not-for-profit and business volunteer programs.

We’re honored to have Secretary Brown speak and present the awards at this year’s luncheon. As Secretary of State, her mission is to maximize voter participation and protect ballot security, serve as a watchdog to public spending and government performance, make it easier to do business in Oregon and preserve and promote the Beaver State’s rich history. Her position is the equivalent to that of Lieutenant Governor.
