One week remains to submit Governor’s Volunteer Awards nominations

One week remains to submit a nomination to recognize a person or program who makes a positive difference in Oregon through volunteerism.

The annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards recognize individuals or duos, volunteer programs and groups for their volunteer efforts. The awards honor some of Oregon’s most dedicated individuals and organizations for their commitment to voluntary service benefiting the state and its people.

A big thanks to the many people who have already submitted nominations for people and programs from throughout Oregon. The more the merrier! We’re looking for even more nominations.

The deadline to submit a nomination is 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Don’t wait to submit your nomination. Here’s why: If you make a disqualifying mistake in filling out the nomination form and turn it in early, we can still notify you so you can resubmit it before the deadline. If you wait until the last minute, we won’t have time to catch the error and you won’t have time to resubmit by deadline.

All nominations must be submitted via the online form, unless accommodations are requested. To request an alternate format nomination form, call (503) 725-8322.

Winners of the awards will be recognized at the annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards Luncheon, held Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Salem Conference Center. A cash award of up to $500 will be given by Wells Fargo to a nonprofit of choice for each award recipient.

All nominees will receive a certificate signed by the governor.

The awards are hosted by the Oregon Volunteers Commission for Voluntary Action and Service with presenting sponsor Wells Fargo
