Every year, the Corporation for National and Community Service releases a report on Volunteering and Civic Life in America. This report provides statistics on how many volunteers there are in the US, how many hours they volunteer, who are the volunteers and much, much, more!
In 2014, Oregon ranks 12th in the US for Volunteerism with 32.7 % of residents volunteering. We have 1 million volunteers who have contributed 137.1 million hours of service! In addition to this, Portland ranks #6 out of large cities in volunteering, and #1 for number of Millennials who volunteer. Organizations applying directly to the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to be a National Direct AmeriCorps program that serves in multiple states or territories are required to consult with the State/Territory Commission of each state and/or Territory in which the organization proposes to operate and must describe this consultation in their applications. Oregon Volunteers values this consultation as an opportunity to learn about your program, how we can support your program’s success in Oregon and how we can work together to create a national service identity among all programs serving the state or territory.
Oregon Volunteers’ consultation process requires you to complete a survey with key information about your program. Most of this information can be a summary of information you provide in your application to CNCS.
Please complete the online survey here by January 27, 2016.
Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions you have about national service in Oregon. We look forward to learning about your program!
